Learners also had a chance to visit Kibimba rice irrigation scheme, one of the largest in Uganda. It is found in Bugiri district, 168km from Kampala.
The farm was started in 1972 by the government to increase food production but it was privatised to an Indian company called Tilda Uganda Limited in 1996.
The farm is along river Kibimba and covers 3700 hectares of land.
Leaners had a chance to view Kibimba man made lake, primary distribution box and slice gates used to distribute water.
Different types of rice were also explained to the learners and different ways of planting rice.
They also had a chance to observe machines called combined harvestors used when harvesting rice.
